Watch Envy

I have been addicted to The Real Housewives on Bravo since season 2. Unfortunately, I did not have the chance to catch season one. If you watch the show you may have seen an episode last season when one of the O.C. housewives receives a Rolex for her 40th birthday. As if it is not painful enough to see someone being given a $40,000 watch you then find out it is an upgrade. The woman already had a Rolex! Can I please get dibs on the hand me down? Now one of the episodes of The Real Housewives of Atlanta shows one of the housewives receiving a Rolex watch for her birthday as well. When she talks of this Rolex gift she refers to the color she received and how she wanted the blue or pink or whatever color it was she received. What?! She had MULTIPLE Rolex watches. Not one, not two, probably not three, and maybe not four but more! INSANITY!!!

Naturally, I had to find out what these darn Rolex watches looked like and why someone in their right mind would pay that much money for a watch. I am not going to lie; I did fall in love. While there are different flavors and styles the pure idea of owning a Rolex had my heart fluttering. However, did I fall in love with the watch, the idea of owning something that expensive, or the feeling that maybe if you could afford a watch that expensive you likely have made some kind of financial milestone in your lifetime?

I decided I would do some investigating on watches out there that might pass for a good alternative and to my surprise I found some decent watches out there that are less than $1000. Seiko and Citizen are classic brands and actually are pretty trendy with their current styles. Guess has fabulous watches as well. I must tell you however, that I found a watch out there for less than $100! I went with the Fossil MOP dial Style #: AM4141 watch http://www.fossil.com/ as shown below yours for $85.00 (What a steal!). This watch has everything I was looking for. Stainless steel, pearl dial with date function, and a glitz bezel to achieve the diamond bezel look I wanted. I have recieved so many compliments on this watch and hey I didn't need to splurge (not that I could have) on a Rolex and likely never will.

I can't even begin to imagine weaeing a $40K anything. Do you suppose these serve as their everyday watches? I guess if you live a life style that affords multiple watches of that caliber, then it's not a big deal if it gets scratched.
